THE CHECK OUT
|#1 After the masts are rigged and stepped, "Polaris" is at the dock waiting for the owners to come in for their checkout. Besides giving people a lot of boat, Shannon also provides a lot of service. This includes checkouts of the mechanical and electrical systems, orientationof all the electronics, sailing instruction and docking drills on every Shannon. Boat dealers just give the keys to new owners and wish them good luck.
#2 Owner checkouts with Lou Couto, Shannon's chief mechanic, starting in
#3 Looking at the galley plumbing hose runs. All seacocks and hoses on a Shannon are labelled for easy owner identification. Obviously this does not happen when boats are built in the Far East.
#4 Checkout continues in the engine room.
Note the bottle of blackberry brandy from Walt Schulz's christening ceremony.
